The ten of swords is just a painful card to look at. Having ten swords sticking out of your back has gotta hurt. The ten of swords represents painful endings, loss, hitting rock bottom, and being stabbed in the back. It feels like the ultimate betrayal. Let’s shift our perspective and take a look at this card in another light.
This card also represents that there are lessons to be learned from this experience. It can be a signal to let go of what is no longer working. For example, let’s say you are in a relationship that you are not happy with and it hasn’t worked for quite some time. It’s time to end this relationship. Yes, it may be painful to some degree to walk away, but it’s time. You aren’t happy and the relationship has run its course. One of the lessons that can be learned from this is to not stay in a relationship out of convenience or out of fear of being alone. Rather to know your worth and to move forward when you need to.
Depending on the energy I feel off of the ten of swords, it can also signify the beginning of the healing process. You have let something end, it may have been painful, but now you are on the road to recovery. If you look at the card, you can see that the sun is coming up in the background. It symbolizes that there is hope on the horizon.
The ten of swords is not all doom and gloom. The card can represent painful endings and loss, but it can also represent letting go and beginning the healing process. Next time you see the ten of swords, try to shift your perspective. Yes something may have ended, but now is the time to grieve, heal and start to move forward. Sometimes things in our lives need to end (a dead end relationship or job) to make room for other things (a loving relationship or dream job). If we hold on too tightly to what is not meant for us, then what is can’t come in.
